A man and woman have been pulled from the water after their boat caught fire on Moreton Bay.

The couple, both aged in their 40s, leapt from a forty-five foot yacht as the flames took hold around 10 nautical miles from the southern end of Moreton Island.

A tender boat dispatched by a passing cargo ship came to their rescue a short time after.

Paramedics have treated the pair for smoke inhalation.
