Drive-ability that’s second to none
Driving Holden’s new fully imported ZB Commodore – built in Germany by Opel, a global model with considerable Holden input for this market. Holden knows that die-hard Commodore fans will question whether it lives up to the local product. As such, Holden’s M.D. Mark Bernard has thrown out a challenge asking them to first drive the car and then form an opinion. From my perspective they will most definitely be impressed but having said that Holden expects it will be still hard to sell in a market that’s embraced SUV’s. The ZB Commodore comes in three bodies, Liftback, Sportwagon and high-riding Tourer or wagon.
And three engines – 2.0-litre turbo petrol, 2.0-litre turbo diesel and 3.6-litre petrol. I’ve only driven the petrol variants – the 3.6-litre V6 Liftback and Tourer and the 2.0-litre turbo Liftback – The V6-engined models come with adaptive all-wheel- drive and the confidence, grip and drive-ability it gives this new model is simply amazing – distributing the drive to the outside wheels when cornering.
