Queenslanders pound the pavement for annual walk against family violence
Queenslanders have hit the pavement for the annual Darkness to Daylight event this morning.
The 110 kilometre run is held over the month of May to raise awareness and funds for domestic and family violence prevention.
The Victoria and Story bridges have been lit purple to support the event.
CEO of Challenge DV Jacque Lachmund said it’s a run with a purpose.
“Our event is a symbolic run of 110 kilometres, which represents on average each year in Australia the amount of lives lost to domestic and family violence,” she said.
“So we walked, ran 100 km through the month of may and this morning we cam together as a community and did the final 10 km and did a 3 kilometre walk.”
