$150k luxury boat goes up in flames as part of extortion attempt
Police have released footage of a luxury boat which was incinerated as part of an alleged extortion attempt.
On July 11, two men showed up at a woman’s home at Hurstville, in Sydney’s south, demanding cash.
The 48-year-old refused and was allegedly threatened by the men who had become aggressive.
One week later, a luxury boat parked out the front of the property was set on fire, with footage witnesses capturing shocking footage of the blaze.
The $150,000 boat was completely destroyed and specialist forensic officers found a knife dumped nearby.
Less than a week after that incident, a man returned to the property and allegedly punched the woman in the face after again demanding cash.
Detectives have now released a sketch of the man who was seen nearby at the time of the fire and assault.
He’s described as Middle Eastern, aged in his mid-20’s, about 175cm tall, with a medium build, dark beard, and tattoos on his neck and both hands.
Investigators are also searching for a 2018-model white Mercedes sedan with a dark sunroof which was at the scene.
