Peter Psaltis has returned to Brisbane streets this morning amid ‘violent’ thunderstorms lashing the city.

He spoke to Neil Breen from Bulimba Creek, during the middle of the storms, where it was “absolutely torrential”.

“The rain is just getting heavier and heavier,” he said.

“Let’s hope, let’s hope, Breenie, that this doesn’t cause another repeat.”

Water is rising again on Fursden Road in Carina, which had been underwater during the peak of the floods.

“It’s going to be a concern with more storms and rain forecast again for today.”

Clean-up crews are busy piling ruined furniture across the street from homes.

“This breaks your heart,” Peter said. “I don’t like calling it rubbish because it’s people’s possessions.”

“And their life!” Neil added.

“It is huge,” Peter said. “Looking at it now, it probably runs about 150 metres long and they’ve got it snaking around.

“When you see what’s around, I’m looking at furniture, I’m looking at mattresses.

“All sorts of people’s possessions just in piles.”
