4BC FOLLOWING THE FLOODS | On the ground in Wavell Heights
Neil Breen is in Wavell Heights this morning after Kedron Brook left a path of destruction on the northside.
He’s told Sofie Formica he can’t believe how much wreckage has been left behind.
“The surrounding areas, it’s unbelievable,” he said, standing at the Valley Hockey Club.
“The wire from the fence is off the poles and is strewn across the field in a straight line and that’s the direction of the water.
“It just ripped it off – I just can’t believe what I’ve seen.”
Neil spoke to Facilities Manager Peter Waugh, who told him the club was close to losing everything.
“We had about six [feet of water] inside the clubhouse,” Mr Waugh said. “The roof line was about 30 centimetres from going under.”

Breenie also came across some of the first showings of the Mud Army 2.0, helping a resident clean her house and save her business.
“Steph’s cleaning the house and and I thought ‘Oh, she’s got a lot of relatives’,” he told Sofie Formica.
“She hasn’t, actually! They’re just people who live in the nearby area and this is the Mud Army 2.0!”
