Walk for Prems: Olympian opens up about her devastating loss

Australian Olympic swimmer Brooke Hanson has opened up about losing her son Jack in order to shine a light on premature birth.

This Sunday, families across Australia will take part in Walk for Prems in support of the 48,000 premature or sick babies born in the country every year.

Olympic gold medallist Brooke Hanson is an ambassador for the cause, looking to give back to the Life’s Little Treasures Foundation after they supported her family through the premature birth of their son Jack.

Jack weighed in at just 600g when he was born, and tragically died after a nine-month battle with chronic lung disease.

Brooke Hanson tells Steve Price the foundation is really close to her heart.

“I would not have gotten through without their support.

“I look at that whole journey and go ‘I’d give back that Olympic gold medal for just one more hug, just one more cuddle with my little man’.

“But that’s not going to happen so I do everything possible every day to live life like it’s my last day.”
