Schoolie critically injured in horror Bali crash brought home

The Newcastle teenager who suffered a horrific crash while on schoolies in Bali has been brought back home to Australia for treatment.
The 18-year-old remains in a critical condition in intensive care at the Prince of Wales Hospital after he was medevaced from Bali on Sunday.
Lawson Rankin had chased after a driver who snatched a mobile phone from a friend on the back of another scooter and was later found unconscious, face-down in a sewer.
Mr Rankin did not have an international licence to ride a motorbike, which means travel insurance will not cover his medical costs.
The family’s GoFundMe page has raised more than $220,000 for his medical treatment.
His father, Phillip Rankin, tells Luke Grant the future is still unclear.
“The reality check is we expect a year in hospitals.
“It’s a frightening nightmare, it was three months of life jammed into six days.”
