Macadamia tree shaking eliminates spread of disease

Macadamia growers are being encouraged to shake old husks from trees, to eliminate costs of a deadly disease.

Husk spot is caused by a native pathogen, which infects the fibrous husk around the nut’s shell.

Rural reporter Loren Howarth caught up with Queensland University Associate Professor Femi Akinsanmi [ak-in-sarm-e] to hear about the breakthrough:
