‘Regular nuisance’ in hotel quarantine caught breaching isolation

A Brisbane hotel quarantine guest has been hit with a hefty fine after they were caught breaking their isolation.
The person was discovered in the fire escape of the Four Points Hotel where they were staying.
Deputy Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said the guest, who has been a “regular nuisance” while in quarantine, has been fined more than $1300.
Mr Gollschewski added the guest has persisted with difficult behaviour, despite having been previously spoken to, and has copped the fine as a result.
“And fair enough,” said Spencer Howson.

Mr Gollschewski announced this morning a separate incident of a woman who escaped hotel quarantine in Cairns.
The 22-year-old woman arrived in Cairns from Sydney on July 1 and entered quarantine at Cairns Pacific International.
On Monday, she went missing from her room.
“It appears this person scaled two balconies, gone down an outside staircase and has damaged a door to escape,” said Mr Gollschewski.
Police believe she “kicked [the door] in”.
“She must be a powerfully built young thing… kicked in a door!” Ray Hadley said.
The woman was found last night at her mother’s house and is currently in custody at the Cairns watch house.
She will likely face criminal charges.
