‘Glimmer of hope’ for small cruise liner operators in Queensland
Queensland’s cruise line industry could be up and running within months, with the Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk today flagging the possibility of allowing small state-based holidays up and down the cast.
She said she will present National Cabinet with a proposal to allow fully vaccinated Queenslanders access to “small cruises”.
CEO of the Australian Cruise Association Jill Abel said it was a “glimmer of hope” for operators.
“Exciting to hear her spoke those words,” she told Scott Emerson.
“Queensland is just a great destination for cruising and I think that we need to get back and support the tourism operators.”
She said the cruise industry was committed to re-opening in a safe way.
She said the touchpoints were huge, including options for people to extend their holidays once the cruise is over.
