Queensland will become a focus for Labor in the federal election as it vies to gain eight seats.

Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese is expected to arrive into Queensland “as soon as he possibly can” to kickstart the party’s campaign in the state.

Senator Murray Watt, who has been visiting locations in the state’s north, says “the government, and the Prime Minister in particular, are really on the nose with people”.

“I think people are really fed up with the lies, they’re fed up at not really seeing much of an agenda for the future.

“I definitely think there is a mood for change out there.”
