Omicron wave deals final blow to close Maroochydore restaurant forever
A Maroochydore restaurant will close this weekend after six successful years after being brought to its knees by the pandemic.
Ocean Ended Restaurant and Bar survived almost two years through health restrictions, lockdowns and public hesitancy but the Omicron wave has dealt the final blow.
Owner Paul Holmes told Neil Breen it was a “heart wrenching” decision.
“We’ve got this farcical interference constantly. I don’t know, it’s just overwhelming, buddy.”
He said patronage dropped by more than 70 per cent after Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk encouraged vulnerable people to stay home to avoid catching COVID-19.
“People listen to her, especially the demographic in the Maroochydore area – it tends to be a bit older up here.
“I don’t understand what’s happening from a government point of view.”
