Nearly 50 years since the bombing of the Whiskey Au Go Go nightclub, questions are being raised about the police investigation.

Pages containing criticisms of police investigations have been made public for the first time, after they were removed in 2020 by a Queensland police officer allegedly under pressure from a superior police officer.

The police officer was preparing the report for an inquest into the deadly fire.

The pages relate to police actions in relation to the firebombing in Fortitude Valley on March 8, 1973 and knowledge of the plan.

Former detective and criminologist Terry Goldsworthy said the report should never have been edited.

“There should have been no pressure put on that officer to doctor or amend her report to a form that satisfied a senior officer,” he told Scott Emerson.

He said ethical standards should investigate.
