The NRL have announced a number of rule changes for the 2022 season, including a big change to the six-again rule.

According to a NRL media release, “penalties will be awarded instead of set restarts (six-again) for ruck or 10m infringements inside the 40m zone of the team in possession”.

The NRL hopes it will be deter teams from intentionally giving away penalties.

Peter Psaltis explained more on 4BC Breakfast.

“We know about six-again coming in, and we also know teams have been exploiting six-again by giving away six four tackles early in the tackle count, instead of giving a penalty away,: he said.

“I actually applaud this from the NRL.”
