‘Neglect on another level’: Residents fire up against council
Jacob Johnson, a resident of the Woodlands Estate in Waterford, has told 4BC Drive host Scott Emerson that residents are upset and disappointed over the lack of upkeep across council parks and common areas.
Residents of Waterford, Holmview, Marsden, Crestmead and Kingston have taken to Facebook, calling on the Logan City Council to take responsibility, fix the problem or discount their rates.
Several residents have begun to tackle the overgrowth off their own back, mowing dozens of council parks, dog parks, nature strips and roundabouts themselves.
Scott Emerson asked Jacob what he has seen in his own local area: “In our local estate, neglect on another level. Some of the grass in our local areas are up to four feet tall.”
“We like to access the parks a lot for our dogs. We’ve had to revert to using school ovals just down the road,” he said.
Jacob told Scott that many residents had made formal complaints about the lack of maintenance and overgrowth since November.
