Queensland could miss out on Australia’s next blockbuster with the state and federal governments stuck at an impasse.

Joint government funding could attract a new production that would create more than 500 jobs.

But while the federal government says it’s ready to provide $16 million to the project, the state’s contribution remains unknown.

Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cities and the Arts Paul Fletcher says it’s created a quite the snag due to a federal government policy over transparency.

“I’d certainly call on them to be transparent about the amount of money they’re committing so we can jointly bring this production to Queensland,” he told Neil Breen.

“The general principal of transparency is a good one when it comes to public administration.”
