The Dockside Marina manager says it’s been a two-and-a-half-year battle to keep commercial operators at the site.

The state government is forcing 11 businesses at the marina to be out my the end of the month due to a clause banning commercial activity.

Ken Allsop told Neil Breen he’s been fighting unsuccessfully to change the lease.

“The grumpy old men here in the Body Corporates … [have] written letters and letters and letters to every government department,” he said.

“They’ve even hired PR companies to go and find whatever they can … and send in reports that we make a lot of noise, we do this, we do that.

“We’ve been trying and trying to get these changes, they’ve just ignored us because of these letters.”
