Market loses power, sets up giveaway stall on Rosalie streets
A gourmet grocer has set up shop on a Rosalie footpath, trading stock for charity donations.
The Rosalie Gourmet Market lost power yesterday when floodwaters filled the store, meaning much of the food will go to waste if it’s not given away today.
Store owner Rae Gough told Sofie Formica the trade has attracted a lot of interest already.
“We’ve taken all the produce out of the shop today that we couldn’t do anything with and we’ve given it away in return for donations to the flood charities.
“It’s an incredible community around here that I’m so pleased to be a part of.
“We’ve been inundated with hundreds and hundreds of people.”
