Neil Breen: Details of Doreen Langham’s murder form Qld’s ‘most damaging’ inquest
A coronial inquest has heard a woman murdered by her former partner begged for help from police so often in her final days, she was told to only make reports once a week.
Ms Langham died in a unit fire that was deliberately lit by her former partner, Gary Hely in February last year.
The inquest was told yesterday she had spoken with 16 police officers from three different stations about her partner.
Criminologist Kerry Carrington described the case as a “calamity of errors” by police.
Neil Breen said the response by police was entirely unacceptable following the deaths of Hannah Clarke and her three children.
“This is one of the most damaging stories and damaging coronial inquests into police behaviour in this state I’ve ever seen,” he said.
