The federal budget will have a focus on easing cost of living pressures, as Treasurer Josh Frydenberg flagged the time for widespread economic stimulus is over.

Federal Member for Ryan, Julian Simmonds, hinted at what Australians could expect in the budget due to be handed down on 29 March.

He says the Coalition is conscious of the families that are “hurting”.

“I think you will see because of how conscious we are, that the budget delivered in a couple of weeks, will have a strong cost of living focus,” he said on 4BC Drive.

But Labor MP for Lilley, Anika Wells, says she wants to see mounting pressures on working families addressed.

“That’s what people are worried about, we’ve just had these floods they’ve affected people’s hip pockets because it’s made us all tune in to insurance costs and what they are going to do.”
