Scott Emerson predicts politics could get in the way of the new City Deal pipeline of projects.

The 4BC Drive host says City Deal could be a game-changer for Queensland’s south east, with a $1.8 billion investment for a 20 year pipeline of projects.

“Everything from specific and needed infrastructure like a new $450 million Brisbane Metro station at the Gabba to vague feel good initiatives like a $285 million SEQ Livability Fund,” he said.

“Don’t forget this deal has been three years in the making, with Canberra and Queensland often at each other’s throats and a series of cancelled meetings.”

He says there’ll be plenty of time for “politics to get in the way” of delivering on those promises.

“You know petty and parochial politics often derail these projects.”
