Why a local cyclist is tackling Tour de Brisbane’s 110-kilometre course
Thousands of cyclists from around Australia will roll into Brisbane this weekend, all for a good cause!
The Tour de Brisbane will see a stretch of 110 kilometres-worth of roads closed to cars as cyclists ride to raise money for medical research.
Local rider Richard McLachlan has entered the race in honour of his father.
“My dad passed away about 11 years ago,” he told Neil Breen. “He had cancer, which turned into lung cancer.
“That’s one of the initiatives that the Prince Charles Hospital Foundation supports research into.
“For me, there’s a personal element to it [but] it’s also about getting out and having fun with some mates and taking advantage of the beautiful roads of Brisbane!”
