A man in Germany has been named an ‘official suspect’ in connection with the disappearance of British girl Madeleine McCann almost 15 years ago.

Previous reports the man had been charged have been denied.

Madeleine went missing from her family’s holiday apartment in the Portuguese holiday resort of Praia da Luz on May 3, 2007, a few days before her fourth birthday.

German police revealed two years ago they were investigating a German man who was already behind bars.

London-based broadcaster Cristo Foufas told Neil Breen next month will mark 15 years since Madeleine McCann disappeared.

“There’s a statute of limitations in Portugal, so if they don’t act on charging someone now, they’ll actually reduce the chance of a serious conviction dramatically by leaving it beyond that 15-year anniversary,” he said.
