All beaches on the Gold Coast will be closed today amid unstable conditions close to the shore.

Strong currents and rips are reportedly making surf conditions dangerous for all swimmers.

Authorities are urging people to stay out of the water.

Nine News reporter Mia Glover told Neil Breen wave heights reached four to five metres overnight.

“Lifeguards have told me this morning it’s just going to stay that way,” she said.

“The swell is just going to be pumping over the next couple of days so it’s pretty likely that these beaches will just stay closed here on the Goldy for the next few days.”
