Brisbane man’s shock at ambulance delays after neighbour’s nasty injury
A 4BC listener has shared another confronting case of the under strain health system after coming to his neighbour’s aid this afternoon.
Leon called in to 4BC Drive from outside the St Vincent’s Hospital after taking his neighbour in to the emergency department.
His neighbour had badly cut his finger with a circular saw.
“We put a whole heap of pressure on his finger and his hand, it was his small finger that was cut,” he told Scott Emerson.
“He’s an ex-nurse and he seemed to think he had cut it right down to the bone.”
When they called Triple Zero, he says they were advised it could take 3-5 hours to get an ambulance.
“This is a Thursday afternoon at 3pm, not a Friday night at 6pm.”
When they arrived at hospital, there were 10 ambulances ramped.
