Flood-weary Lockyer valley residents have rallied to support their community and clean up after the most recent flood events.

Lockyer Valley deputy mayor Jason Cook says locals expect severe weather, but admitted the timing was rough for some.

“We are recovering, we are working on getting services back to roads and restoring basic access to some residents that don’t have their roads access to the houses, that’s probably more up in the regional areas,” he told Scott Emerson.

He says council staff are weary, “at their wits end” after copping two flooding events in the space of two months.

“Now a lot of that work has been ruined again so they are going back to the same places they were 2 months again to fix stuff again, because they didn’t get the chance to repair them properly.”

He paid tribute to the community for being out and helping their neighbours and community.
