19 students, teacher ‘horrifically’ shot dead at Texas primary school
The death toll has risen following a mass shooting at a Texas school.
It has been confirmed 19 students are dead, and one teacher.
The students are in Grades 2, 3 and 4.
An attacker opened fire at Robb Elementary School, around 135 kilometres west of San Antonio, on Tuesday afternoon.
US President Joe Biden is demanding the nation stand up to the gun lobby.
The tragedy in the small town of Uvalde is the deadliest school shooting in the state’s history and adds to a grim toll across the US.
President Biden says the time for talk is over.
“As a nation we have to ask, when in God’s name are we going to stand up to the gun lobby?
“When in God’s name will we do what we know in our gut what needs to be done.”
Governor Greg Abbott says they were “horrifically, incomprehensibly” killed.
Police have confirmed the 18-year-old shooter has also died.
