Flights cancelled at Brisbane Airport as ‘Arctic blast’ hammers south-east
Strong wind gusts across the south-east are wreaking havoc at the Brisbane Airport, forcing some flights to be cancelled.
Winds reaching speeds of up to 90 kilometres an hour have felled trees and cut power overnight but the impact continues to stretch further.
At least a dozen flights out have been canned at Brisbane Airport today after planes were unable to land in the south-east.
Brisbane Airport’s Stephen Beckett told Sofie Formica airlines have responded “pretty well” in light of the delays.
“Because we have such regular services in the mornings, the airlines have been able to get people onto other services pretty quickly,” he said.
“Most people are back on track and taking off as soon as they can.”
