Opposition and government trade barbs over ramping crisis

The state Opposition has doubled down on claims ambulance ramping is occurring in north Queensland.

David Crisafulli tweeted a number of ambulances queuing at Townsville Hospital earlier this week.

Queensland Ambulance Service posted on social media that the reports were not true.

Health Minister Yvette D’Ath was quick to respond, saying wait times at the hospital last night were only 35 minutes.

The Palaszczuk government has called for Opposition Leader David Crisafulli to retract his claims.

But the Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates says the government should be busy fixing the health crisis.

“This is just pathetic politics,” she said.

“Patients, paramedics, doctors, nurses, and Queensland Health staff are going to continue to keep sending us these pictures and we are going to keep sharing them with Queenslanders because the health crisis is real and it affects them every day.”
