Australian farmers have received a boost to their cash income over the last 12 months, in the wake of good rainfall, and strong commodity prices.

But, it’s not all good news, with fuel, feed and fertiliser costs expected to affect returns well into the upcoming financial year.

Rural reporter Madelaine McNeill caught up with Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics assistant secretary, Peter Gooday, to find out more about the state of the industry and the challenges facing farmers.
