Toombul shopping centre retailer blasts new support package
Small retailers at Toombul shopping centre have hit out after they were offered a bigger support package, saying it’s barely enough to make up for their losses.
Mirvac has now offered a six month support package to more than 100 businesses after the site was forced to close earlier this year due to the February floods.
The closure has left many retailers out of pocket and without an income.
The site has been closed since the flood disaster.
The owner of the Nextra newsagency at Toombul, Shane Griffin, says six months rent is just five per cent of their total loss.
He blasted a statement released by the company as “a load of crap”.
