Timber shortage hits housing market
Demand for housing is on the rise, and there’s concern the construction sector could face a serious timber supply gap without new plantings.
A report has found and average of 259-thousand new homes will be needed annually by 20-50, up from 183-thousand.
Rural editor Sophie Clarke caught up with Australian Forest Products Association Chief Executive Ross Hampton to hear just how many trees need planting to keep up.
