Dr Karl’s simple analogy to explain the risks of vaping
Dr Karl has cleared up a commonly-held misconception about whether vaping is harmful to lungs.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics has found more than one in five young Australians have used an e-cigarette or vaping device at least once.
It has experts concerned the products will create another generation of nicotine addicts and a rise in health issues like lung disease and cancer.
Laurel says her son argues vaping is “better for you” than smoking but it’s logic Dr Karl doesn’t agree with.
“It’s not as bad as smoking but it’s still bad for you, in the same way that banging your thumb with a hammer is not as bad as banging your head with a hammer,” he told the 4BC Breakfast team.
“They’re both bad, just don’t do either.”
