John Farnham’s family has shared an update on his health as he recovers from a marathon surgery to remove a cancerous tumour from his mouth.

The music icon underwent 13-hour surgery on August 23.

Jill Farnham has today provided an update on John’s condition as he remains in a stable condition in ICU.

“He is awake and responding well to the care he’s receiving,” the statement said.

Peter Ford told Laurel, Gary & Mark it’s likely Farnham will be in hospital for some time.

“I was told all along he would probably be in ICU for a couple of weeks,” he said. “This is going to be a very long, slow process.

“Nothing much is going to happen overnight and that’s why the family don’t want to get into a thing of putting out a daily bulletin because basically, most days there won’t be anything to report.”

The Farmham family have thanked well-wishers for their messages.

It comes as a website, weloveyoujohn.com.au, launches today for fans to send messages of support to John and the family.
