Queenslanders are being warned to prepare for the threat of bushfires, floods, and heavy rain, with the warmer months on the way.

The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting above average rain, similar to what south-east Queensland saw at the start of the year.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services is reminding homeowners now is the time to reduce any fire risks around the yard.

This week has seen unseasonably wet weather, but the bulk of the rain is expected to fall closer to the weekend.

40mm is expected on Friday and Saturday.
