It’s a question plenty of footy fans have been asking this morning after Brisbane’s thrilling win over Richmond.

Why was Tom Lynch’s goal overturned on review?

In a match where the lead changed 17 times, the Lions ultimately held on to the win 106-104.

The Tigers held a three-point lead when a shot at goal by Tom Lynch sailed over the top of the post.

On-field officials called it a goal but the AFL Review Centre disagreed and overturned the call.

“Obviously the people who run those systems know what they’re doing,” Brisbane coach Chris Fagan told Sofie Formica.

“The AFL can’t win, they try to put something in place to prevent mistakes being made in the games and when they do it, we still question whether the technology’s right or not.

“I don’t have a problem with it. I’d hate to see a grand final decided by a mistake made by a ground umpire.”
