Severe shortage of GPs hits Sunshine Coast
A Sunshine Coast medical centre has been forced to close its doors over a severe lack of GPs.
The Ann Street Family Medicine clinic in Nambour has told patients they won’t reopen until they find replacements.
Sunshine Coast Medical Association president Roger Faint said the issue is widespread.
“The Sunshine Coast, which is probably one of the most heavily doctored places in Australia, a lot of people want to move here, 40,000-50,000 people a year moving here,” he told Neil Breen.
“All of a sudden practices can’t find a doctor to look after patients.”
