Sofie Formica has stunned comedian Joe Avati after noticing his unusual tour pitstop. 

Avati was spotted at an event in Cairns, sampling the local produce.

Sofie Formica: “And it’s not just shows you were doing, because I know that you have travelled obviously all over the world and certainly all over Queensland.

“You were up in Cairns and I imagine you did a show there but then, you also judged their local salami festival.”

Joe Avati: “How did you know- how did you find out about that!?”

Sofie Formica: “I just think it’s hilarious! It’s like, ‘We’ve got an Italian comedian in town, we’ve got a salami festival happening, let’s put those two things together!'”
