Prince Harry, Prince Andrew military uniform controversy explained

As the mourning of Queen Elizabeth II continues, a decision by Buckingham Palace is stirring up controversy.

Prince Harry and Prince Andrew were the only members of the Queen’s immediate family who served in the military during wartime.

But both princes have been spotted at processions in suits while their family donned uniforms.

Buckingham Palace says only working members of the Royal Family can wear military uniform for ceremonial events.

Since both Harry and Andrew have stepped away from their royal duties, they must wear civilian clothes.

But UK reporter Adam Gilchrist told Laurel, Gary & Mark there’s another snag with the rule.

“Prince Andrew is still technically a retired vice admiral so therefore, he can put on a uniform and medals and gold braid and the full thing,” he said.

“Harry has had his titles removed because he’s not a working royal.

“Yes, Prince Andrew’s still appearing in a morning suit at various functions but there’s a point in which he’ll put on his uniform and then we’ll all go, ‘Hang on a moment!’ again.”
