How a takeaway order led police to fourth murder suspect
A man wanted by police over the murder a bikie associate in broad daylight has been found after his girlfriend ordered takeaway for dinner.
Levi Johnson was chased down and stabbed to death after his car was rammed and its windows were smashed with a crowbar in a carpark outside a Mansfield gym.
Police spent the better part of last week tracking down the four men suspected to have carried out the crime, and yesterday arrested the last after five days on the run.
It’s alleged Kyle Martin was attempting to flee to Western Australia before he was found at a motel in Warwick, south-west of Brisbane.
Officers were staking out the building and tracking his girlfriend’s car when she went to pick up takeaway for dinner on Saturday night and ordered enough for two.
“That food was sufficient for two people and was paid in cash,” Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham said.
“It was at that time I was confident we had our wanted person.”
Mr Martin was arrested and charged with murder and will face court today. His girlfriend has not been charged with any crimes.
Police allege Mr Martin fatally stabbed Mr Johnson six times and also brought the knife used in the attack.
