SSI launches home care worker recruitment campaign

Bill Woods

Bill Woods speaks with Iggy Pintado, Head of Home Care Workforce Support Program at Settlement Services International (SSI), who have launched a recruitment campaign to  attract, train and provide ongoing support and long-term career opportunities to talent across NSW and the ACT as part of the Home Care Workforce Support Program (HCWSP).

Aged care is one of the top 10 industries most affected by skills shortages in Australia, with reports estimating that an additional 35,000 workers will be required every year to fill the growing demand.

“SSI’s recruitment campaign aims to raise awareness of the range of career opportunities available to home care workers. We will identify, screen, upskill mentor and place 4,400 new talent across NSW and the ACT,” says Mr Pintado.

“The Royal Commission shone a light on the importance that staying at home has for older people, revealing that over 90 per cent prefer this to moving into residential aged care”.

“Through this program, we want to provide qualified aged care support at home to more seniors in Australia to help them enjoy an independent life while having the peace of mind of knowing that they will receive safe and quality care”, he says.
