Bill McDonald says it’s “hard to disagree” with Labor’s crusade to “clean up the mess” in Defence left by the Morrison government. 

The Commonwealth has flagged it will seek to rein in cost blowouts and delays in the portfolio, with defence projects blown out by at least $6.5 billion.

It was yesterday revealed 28 major projects are running behind schedule at a combined 97 years late.

“The Opposition Defence spokesperson Andrew Hastie said Labor was only making the Defence department do more paperwork,” Bill said. “Rubbish.

“They were only cleaning up the mess your government left behind.

“Marles argued money was flushed down the toilet. I agree, I think it’s pathetic and we need to spend now to defend now.”
