Australia’s rural doctor shortage raising mental health concerns
At this year’s Rural Medicine Australia Conference, there will be a significant focus on mental health and wellbeing in the bush, and this coincides with World Mental Health Week.
People in the bush have been faced with plenty of diversity in the last couple of years, from bushfires to floods, mouse plague and, of course, the covid pandemic. John Stanley speaks to Dr Megan Belot, President of the Rural Doctors Association of Australia, about why there is such a shortage of doctors in rural Australia.
