‘Bizarre’: Mayor seeks answers over plans to resume homes for Bruce Highway expansion
Residents in Griffin are dismayed their their newly built homes could be resumed for the widening of the Bruce Highway.
One of the locals impacted, Charmaine Jackson, told Bill McDonald “it could all be taken away from us and who knows when”.
Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey put out a statement today saying: “This project is in the very early planning stages and residents who are potentially impacted are the first to be notified.”
Moreton Bay regional council mayor Peter Flannery said up until today he hadn’t seen any “lines on the map” about the widening of the Bruce Highway.
“And now we are having people who have been set letters in the mail or email saying your total house could be resumed for the widening of this road,” he told Neil Breen.
He said it was “bizarre”.
