While there’s a significant push for the ethical sponsorship of sport, including from sporting clubs themselves, it won’t happen overnight.
Tobacco sponsorship of sport was phased out in the early 90s, and quickly replaced by fast food and mining companies.
Now, as we grapple with the effects of climate change, and the short and long-term health complications of processed foods, sporting clubs are looking to take an ethical stand and reputations are at stake.
But while ethical investment has worked in other industries, is the sporting industry truly ready for the change?
