QFES set to undergo major restructure after independent review
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services will be restructured after a review into the services, the state government has announced.
Reviews have been carried out into both QFES and the SES ahead of the storm season.
The government has also pledged $400 million commitment over four years for more resources, personnel and equipment.
The investment will also include almost 500 more full time emergency services staff.
Minister for Fire and Emergency Services Mark Ryan says a recommendation to establish a dedicated fire service has been accepted.
“That will see the Fire and Rescue Service and the Rural Fire Service make up that department, with the Rural Fire Service being its own separate entity within that department with its own budget and own structure.
“This is an important way we can build capacity for the future around our fire services.”
The SESĀ and Marine Rescue Queensland will also both be hosted by Queensland Police Service.
