Twitter’s new owner is facing criticism for a new plan to charge accounts $8 USD a month to keep their blue tick, to show they are a verified account.

Reports originally said Twitter’s blue tick would cost $20 per month, but Elon Musk’s latest tweet says verification will cost $8 a month, or around $12.40 AUD.

Laurel, Gary and Mark discussed the news.

“Those who are already verified under Elon Musk’s new plan will have 90 days to subscribe or they will lose their verified status,” Mark said this morning on 4BC Breakfast.

Mark said in that case, he’d leave the platform.
