Ray Hadley slams QLD Opposition’s ‘weak as water’ response on child abuse reform

Ray Hadley has hit out at Queensland Opposition Leader David Crisafulli’s “wishy-washy” response on toughening sentences related to child sex offenders.
He has called for minimum sentences for convicted offenders in Queensland, accusing the Opposition of being as “weak as water” on the issue and failing to commit.
“My staff specifically asked David Crisafulli’s office if he would enforce tougher penalties for child sex offenders if elected.”
But he said a written response from Mr Crisaffulli’s office was “wishy-washy”.
“Pretty simple question, but of course a totally inadequate answer.”

Statement from David Crisafulli
There is nothing more sinister than an adult taking advantage of a child.
If the Palaszczuk Government was listening to the community they would know full well that people do not think these sentences match the crime.
It is becoming increasingly clear that the Palaszczuk Government’s soft approach on crime is completely out of touch with community expectations.
We’re now seeing it everyday across the failures with Youth Crime, child safety and now this.
The Queenslanders I talk to believe the Palaszczuk Government isn’t keeping our children safe.
