Neil Breen has slammed the state’s failure to release a report into a review of youth justice reform until today.

The Queensland government has been pressed on why it has taken so long to release the report to the public, after it handed to the government back in March.

It was lead by former police commissioner Bob Atkinson and reviewed the state government’s sweeping changes brought in to tackle the state’s youth crime problem.

“It was given to the government in March, eight months ago,” Neil said.

“They released the report at 8.17pm last night, 168 pages.

“That is an absolute disgrace.”

But Neil has accused Police Minister Mark Ryan of playing politics on failing to provide an answer on why it took so long to release the long-awaited report.

“Assurances, learnings, reports … honestly it’s gobbledigook.”

He also hit out at some of the detail in the report, including that there was a “growing improvement in perceptions of safety in communities”.
